Painting Watercolour Skies

Tuesday 12 June, 10.30-4pm

We will look at various techniques for creating skies, from the peaceful to the dramatic,  summer blue to leaden grey.  We will think about types of clouds and how to paint them,  sunrise and sunset, and perspective in the sky.

The workshop will follow the usual pattern of sketching and exercises in the morning and a painting in the afternoon.

I want you to create your own painting, not simply follow a demonstration. So bring your own ideas and reference materials and I will help you at every stage as you need.

Suggested colours

Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Red, Lemon Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Indian or Light Red, Naples Yellow, French Ultramarine, Alizarin Crimson, Chrome Yellow, Prussian Blue, Cad. Yellow Deep or Orange, Raw Umber, White Gouache, Paynes Grey, Burnt Umber, (Winsor Violet), Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna or Yellow Ochre

Please bring your own paint, brushes, paper, palette, tissue or kitchen roll. I will bring boards, blocks and waterpots, and lots of spare equipment which i am happy to lend.

£62 including two course lunch and a glass of wine. There is a £20 booking deposit that will be deducted from the fee or refunded if the course is unable to go ahead.
