Planning permission for eight new suites in the charming grade one listed stables was granted a few years ago, but only recently have we had the occupancy, energy and cash flow to start building. We have now finished two new suites.
The first accessed from the stable yard has wooden floors throughout, a sitting room with a wood burning stove and a small pantry. A children’s bunk bed room, bead and boarded floor to ceiling, leads off the sitting room. Upstairs a pretty bedroom looks over the stable yard and leads on to a spacious double height bathroom with natural light from a pitched roof, an original free standing bath and a spacious shower.
The second suite has its own separate entrance approached from the garden, and the bedroom with its timber floor and its steeply pitched roof retains its hay loft feel, and has a double aspect over the garden on one side and the stable yard on the other. The sitting room is very pretty with beech glade wallpaper, a yellow rabbit fabric sofa, and antique chairs. This room also has a wood burning stove, a small pantry and guest WC. An outside area can be used for a romantic breakfast ‘al fresco’. In fact this is the perfect suite for Honeymooners…
Both suites have kept many original features that gives them an unusual and special feel and additional privacy.
The Stables at Endsleigh have lots of interesting nooks. As we write, plans are being drawn up for a boutique and a simple treatment room.
